Cash bash to benefit North Apollo fire department

North Apollo Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a virtual cash bash at noon Jan.16 live on the company Facebook page.

Ten cash prizes totaling $3,750 will be given away. Tickets are $10 for two numbers and are available at Tom’s Auto Service and Fox’s Pizza Den, both in Apollo, or online on at Venmo NorthApollo-VFD or checkout.square.site/buy/TBI5STPVDLVAOI5SRMYNDJM6. Plum HS to sponsor toy drive

Plum Senior High School will sponsor its sixth annual Toys For Tots toy drive from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the high school bus lot.

This year’s event will be a no-contact drive-thru. Donors should remain in their vehicles and open their trunk or backseat. Volunteers will retrieve the gifts from vehicles.


Westmoreland County Marines to supply Christmas groceries

Westmoreland County Marines will provide Christmas groceries to local veterans’ families in need.

To apply, veterans must provide proper identification and proof of military service such as a VA card, DD-214 or the new Pennsylvania drivers license with flag. Requests must be received by Thursday.

Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 20 in the parking lot of the Lower Burrell Community Market located in Hill Crest Shopping Center. Home delivery will not be available this year.

Funds for the project come from local residents and businesses. To make a financial donation, mail a check payable to Westmoreland County Marines, in care of Jim Walters, 176 Hilltop Drive, Lower Burrell PA 15068.


Letters from Santa offered by Vandergrift Public Library

Vandergrift Public Library will send your child a personalized letter from Santa Claus for a $5 donation to the library.

Animal Protectors conducting Sarris candy sale

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is selling Sarris candy bars for $1.
