Library quilt show to continue through March 7
Community Library of Allegheny Valley-Harrison is holding its annual Quilt Show through March 7.
The public can vote on their favorite in each category. Categories are hand-quilted, machine-quilted or wall hanging.
There is no cost to view or vote on a quilt. The quilt with the most votes in each category will be awarded a prize on Feb. 24.

AVH Auxiliary to hold popcorn sale
Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host a Popped Envy Gourmet popcorn sale from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the hospital lobby, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights.
Merchandise will include specialty popcorn including a variety “Red Velvet” for Valentines Day. Cost is $6 per bag, cash only.
Proceeds will benefit auxiliary-sponsored hospital projects.
Free soup luncheon planned Wednesday
Poke Run Presbyterian Church will have a free soup luncheon at noon Wednesday at the church, 1091 Poke Run Church Road, Washington Township. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Feb. 22: The 47th annual Allegheny County Library Association Chess Tournament for students in grades 1 to 8 will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plum Community Library, 445 Center New Texas Road. Children will be divided into two divisions by grade and must know how to play chess to enter. Students should bring their own chess board and arrive 15 minutes before their start time.
