Building Block of Natrona to distribute food, cosmetic products

Building Block of Natrona will host its free Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet outreach for residents in need from 1 to 2:30 p.m. or as long as supplies last Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28 Garfield St., Natrona, Harrison.

Fresh produce, and personal care and hygiene products will be distributed. Income verification is not required. Everyone is welcome.


Leechburg church offers pot love dinner

A Pot Love Dinner will be served at noon Saturday at Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, 271 Main St., Leechburg.

If you need a good meal on a weekend and are tired of eating alone, or your food budget is stretched thin, this is for you. A free, hot, nutritious meal is waiting.

Clothing and toy distribution planned in Harrison

A free clothing and toy distribution will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Word of Faith Christian Fellowship, 42 Chestnut St., Natrona, Harrison.

Saturday: The Clothing Closet at First Lutheran Church, 358 Main St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. New clothing is added monthly. All items are 20 cents each. Use the rear entrance to the church. Clothing donations welcome. Leave donations on the parish porch.

Lower Burrell

Saturday: A luncheon bingo will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Moose, 499 Reimer St. Additional cards and specials available. Cash prizes. Doors open at 11 a.m. Details: 724-335-4131

New Kensington

Saturday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., offers winter clothing, including coats, shoes, boots, for men, women and children, linens and blankets, and uniforms for students of Mary Queen of Apostles School. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and noon to 2 p.m. Tuesdays. Wednesday hours are temporarily discontinued. A drop-off container for donations is at the entrance.

Saturday: A meet the artist event and art exhibit opening will be from noon to 3 p.m. at Peoples Library, 880 Barnes St.. The exhibit features the works of Lynn Jacques. All items, including painting, collages and note cards will be 50% off. Sales will benefit the library.

Tarentum

Saturday: A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at BridgePoint Church, 400 E. Ninth Ave. Menu: spaghetti with meat or marinara sauce, salad, rolls, dessert and drink. Cost: $8; children 4 to 10, $4; 3 and younger, free. Proceeds will benefit the church fellowship hall renovations.

Saturday: Bethel A.M.E. Church, 250 Seventh Ave., will have a fish fry from noon to 5 p.m. at the church. Cost: dinner, $10; includes three side dishes and dessert; sandwiches with coleslaw, $8. Dine in or take out. Proceeds will benefit the annual church Men’s Day. Details: 724-224-2417

Saturday: A Dollar Breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to noon at Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St. Menu: pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Everyone welcome. Cost: $1. Details: 724-224-9220

Saturday: The Elks will host a Valentine’s dance from 7:30 to 11 p.m. at the lodge, 219 E. Sixth Ave., featuring the band Route 56. Admission: $10 per person. Tickets: 724-226-1644 after 5 p.m.

Vandergrift

Saturday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 141 Sumner Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Cost: $40, includes 18 cards; or $25, nine cards. There will be free hot dogs and coffee, early bird games, specials and a smokers’ break game.
