Dance marathon to aid cancer charity
A dance-a-thon to benefit charity Change for Cancer will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 28 in the cafeteria at Burrell High School, Puckety Church Road, Lower Burrell.
Co-sponsored by the Burrell Drama Parent Boosters, this year’s theme will be Broadway. Students in sixth through 12th grade will organize teams and collect sponsors. There will be games, raffles, and prizes, food and drinks will be served and snacks available for purchase. Dancers can enjoy a pool party during the last hour.
Change for Cancer was organized in 2012 by Burrell student Georgia Brothers and helped almost 40 families in the Alle-Kiski Valley who are battling cancer. Her goal is to raise a total of $100,000.

Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center seeks volunteers
The Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center has many opportunities for volunteers to help the organization in its quest to eliminate domestic violence.
Volunteers are needed to work with children, drive to Pittsburgh to courier food to Tarentum, organize events, present programs in schools and assist with office projects.

Community Clothes Closet plans sale on winter clothing
The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, offers winter clothing, including coats, shoes, boots, for men, women and children, linens and blankets, and uniforms for students of Mary Queen of Apostles School. A buy one, get one free sale on winter clothes will run Tuesday through March 14. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and noon to 2 p.m. Tuesdays. A drop-off container for donations is at the entrance.
