Adult prom event planned Feb. 11 in Brackenridge

A King and Queen of Hearts adult prom will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Brackenridge American Legion, 845 E. First Ave.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per person and includes a dinner buffet. There will be a cash bar and 50-50 raffle. Ticket deadline is today.

Rotary offers annual scholarships

The Bob Williams Memorial Rotary Scholarship, sponsored by Rotary District 7305 Foundation, will award at least eight $5,000 scholarships to high school seniors for the 2022-23 academic year.

High school seniors and vocational and GED students in Allegheny and Beaver counties as well as those who attend Valley, Burrell and Kiski Area high schools are eligible to apply. Students must have a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher and complete an essay that highlights their community and school service.

Complete application materials are found on Rotary District 7305 website, rotarydistrict7305.org, under the scholarship link and from school guidance counselors. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 28. For details, contact Robert Arbuckle at rarbuckl@yahoo.com.

Feb. 25: The American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a soup cook-off from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the post, 845 First Ave. Bring your best soup in a slow cooker or roaster by 12:30 p.m., and your recipe if you wish to share it. Soup will be sold as a fundraiser for the auxiliary, takeout or dine in. Prizes will be awarded at 3 p.m. to the top three soups, as voted by people sampling.
