Armstrong Conservation group to have tree seedling sale

Armstrong Conservation District will conduct its annual fruit tree and seedling sale through March 3.

Fruit varieties include apple, apricot, peach and plum. Trees range from 3 to 6 feet in height, are bare rooted and packed in peat moss. Cost is $25. Tree guards are available at $3 each. Varieties are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders are encouraged to be placed early.

Tree seedling varieties available include American Common Persimmon, American Plum, Arrowwood Viburnum, Black Walnut, Chestnut Oak, Colorado Blue Spruce, Eastern White Pine, Norway Spruce, Red Mulberry, Silky Dogwood and Winterberry Holly. All are sold in bundles of 25. Cost is $25 per bundle. Prices include tax.

Bowl-A-Thon to raise money for foundation

The annual Burrell Education Foundation Bowl-A-Thon will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at Wildlife Lanes, 1000 Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell.

Cost is $25 per bowler; $45 for two; and $90 for a team of four, and includes bowling and shoe rental. There will be a silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

The Bowl-A-Thon benefits the foundation’s educational, cultural and recreational activities for residents of Upper and Lower Burrell.
