Lenten fish fries listings wanted

Ash Wednesday is Feb. 26 and Lent is coming soon! The Stroller is compiling a list of fish fries taking place Ash Wednesday and/or Fridays during Lent.

Produce to People distribution planned Tuesday

Food distribution by Produce to People, sponsored by the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the old Rite-Aid building, 411 Corbet St., Tarentum.

Bring a box, durable bags, a laundry basket, a cooler or wheeled cart for the food. Dress warmly and bring a chair if you need one.

Volunteers are always needed and should plan to arrive at 4:30 p.m. Parking is available up Fourth Street at Central Presbyterian Church, or on Corbet Street, and River and Fourth avenues. Individuals, groups and organizations, including high school or college students looking for a project, are welcome. For information, call the Association of Churches at 724-226-0606.


Dinner to raise money for Humane Society

The fourth annual Festival of Love Family Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church, 301 E Pittsburgh St., Delmont.

The menu includes spaghetti, tossed salad and bread. Those attending are asked to bring a dessert to share.

There will be a DJ, dancing, crafts and games. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Humane Society of Westmoreland County.

Reservations are required. For reservations, call 724-468-4189 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Reservation deadline is Wednesday.


Banners being sold to honor West Deer veterans

West Deer Township is accepting orders for banners to honor township residents who served in the Armed Forces.

The double-sided banners will be printed by Gray Signs and measure 24 x 30-inches. Cost is $120 plus tax and includes banner, hardware, photo scanning and proof.

Tuesday: Rep. Frank Dermody will host a veteran’s benefits clinic from 9 a.m. to noon at his office, 1331 Freeport Road. Feb. 29: North Apollo Volunteer Fire Company is sponsoring a scratch off ticket raffle based on the 7 p.m. Pick 3 lottery drawing. Tuesday: Plum AARP will meet at noon in the fellowship hall of Unity Community Church, 215 Unity Center Road.
