Drive-thru dinner to benefit Peoples Library

Peoples Library will host a drive-thru beef pot roast dinner Feb. 24 at the library, 880 Barnes St., New Kensington.

The menu from Hoffstot’s Café Monaco in Oakmont will feature pasta fagioli with crackers, braised beef pot roast, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll & butter and a mini strawberry kiwi parfait. Cost is $40.

Pick-up will be from 4 to 6 p.m. behind the library. Reservations are required by 5 p.m. Feb. 20. For reservations, visit peopleslibrary.org or visit the Lower Burrell or New Kensington locations of the library. For details, call 724-339-1021.


Grief workshop offered by Good Samaritan Hospice

Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, will sponsor a free grief workshop “Facing the Firsts” for anyone who has lost a loved one from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Middlesex Township office, 116 Browns Hill Road, suite 111.

All ages are welcome and lunch will be served. Children and teens will attend breakout sessions with age-appropriate activities and must be accompanied by an adult.

Jan. 19: Vendor spaces are available for an antique and classic bicycle swap meet set for 8 a.m. to noon at the Tesla BioHealing Wellness Hotel and Resort, formerly the Days Inn, 139 Pittsburgh Road. East Vandergrift

Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Jan. 18: Tri-County Trout Club is accepting vendor applications for its 20th annual Sport Show and Flea Market planned 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Patterson Hall of Guardian Angels Parish, 800 Montana Ave. Vendors may buy or sell new, used and collectible fishing, hunting, camping and sporting items. Saturday: The ClothesLine Ministry at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 3084 Leechburg Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost: clothing, shoes and purses, 25 cents each or five for $1; semi/formal dresses, leather coats, designer shoes and purses, $5. The jewelry room will be open. Please bring your own bags.

Tuesday: Redemption Church, 232 Hillcrest Dr., will offer a GriefShare support group from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 14 through April 8 at the church. No reservations required.

Feb. 8: The Moose will sponsor a comedy dinner at the lodge, 499 Reimer St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 6 p.m. Steve Hofstetter will be the headliner at 7 p.m. Dinner will be by Mom’s Kitchen. New Kensington

Parks Township

Washington Township

Today: Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 4078 Route 66. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and sales start at 6 p.m. Free coffee. The kitchen will be open. Players must be at least 18 or accompanied by an adult.
