Volunteers needed at cat rescue
Kiski Valley Cat and Kitten Rescue is seeking volunteers to help at the shelter, located in Allegheny Township.
The rescue is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty and neglect toward cats and kittens and provides shelter and medical care until they find their forever home. Duties may include cleaning and replenishing food and water bowls, cleaning litter boxes, floors and enclosures, organizing, picking up supplies and playing with the animals.
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one shift per week. Days and times are flexible. Volunteers younger that 16 must be supervised be a parent or guardian. To give your time, contact Renee at rgazarik@hotmail.com. To make a donation, visit kiskicats.org.
Outdoor Discovery Center to present family movie
The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek will host a free screening of the movie, “Stranger In The Woods,” at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 at the center, 142 Kerr Road, Bethel Township.
The movie runs 25 minutes and is appropriate for families with children. The film is a journey into the woods with two snowdrifts who introduce their forest friends and remember a mysterious stranger who once visited.

Salvation Army free lunch distribution offered Thursday
The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.
