Memorabilia sought for library 100th anniversary

Community Library of Allegheny Valley in Harrison will celebrate its 100th anniversary with an exhibit of memorabilia from over the years.

Sports show and flea market set Saturday in Harrison

Tri-County Trout Club will sponsor a sport show and flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Patterson Hall in the basement at Guardian Angels Parish, 800 Montana Ave., Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Doors open for buyers at 9 a.m.; there is no early admission. Please use the parking lot at the back of the school on Liberty Avenue. There are stairs down to the entrance. Vendors will sell new, used or collectible sporting items; no firearms or ammunition. Hot food and refreshments will be available.

Admission is $3; club members and children younger than 12, free.

Instructors from the True North Wilderness Survival School will discuss how to better protect yourself and others during your next outdoor adventure. Suitable for those who are at least 13-years-old. Jan. 22: Allegheny Valley HOPE Foundation will host a spaghetti dinner to benefit the Miller Family from noon to 6 p.m. at the new Acme Club, 230 Herron Ave. There will be a cash bar, basket auction, entertainment and a bake sale. Cost: $15; 12 and younger, $10. Proceeds will help with medical costs for cancer patient Vicki Miller and her husband Paul who needs a liver transplant.

Harrison

Today: Friends of Community Library of Allegheny Valley will meet at 10 a.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. Details: 724-226-3491.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church, Harrison, will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Saturday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor a chili cook-off at 6 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane, Harrison. Chili recipes will be tasted and voted on by participants and cash prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners. Entry fee: $10. Public welcome.

Jefferson

Today: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. Under new management with higher payouts. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.

Leechburg

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $35, in advance; $40 at the door if available; includes a dauber and one card for 12 $100 regular games, six $200 games, four $400 games and two $1,000 cover-all jackpot games.
