Memorial service planned to honor fallen Apollo police officer
A memorial service in honor of Apollo Police Officer Leonard C. Miller who was killed in the line of duty will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church of Apollo, 214 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
The Rev. Philip Ramstad will lead the service and the Rev. June Jefferies, pastor at New Life Baptist Church, Apollo, will preach the sermon. Choirs from both churches will provide music.
Donations will be accepted to benefit both the Leonard C. Miller Scholarship Fund that provides a scholarship to an Apollo-Ridge High School senior who plans to major in criminal justice, and to support the Lenape Technical School Law Enforcement Technology program activities.
Refreshments will be served afterward in the church social hall.
Bowling event to benefit Animal Protectors
Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will host, “Pins for Pets” a benefit bowling party at 3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Nesbit Bowling Lanes, 3501 Leechburg Road, Plum.
Cost is $20 and includes two games, shoes, pizza, cake, pop and snacks. There will be a basket auction and 50/50 raffle.

Free community resource fair planned Friday
A free community resource fair will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Westmoreland County Community College, 1150 Fifth Ave., New Kensington.

Salvation Army plans free community lunch
A free community lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army, 917 Brackenridge Ave., Brackenridge.
