Free shuttle service available for NK, Arnold residents

The New Ken Downtown Partnership and Wesley Family Services sponsors a free shuttle service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for residents of New Kensington and Arnold.

Residents can be picked up at their homes and be taken to Golden Dawn and Aldi, both in New Kensington, and Walmart and Aldi, both in Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer.

Riders must be at least 18 years old and shuttles are smoke-free. For details and a schedule, call Kevin Cox at 724-895-8270.


Avonmore Library announces new hours

Avonmore Library, 437 Westmoreland Ave., will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Saturday: A night of comedy to benefit the Burrell Buccaneers Baseball Boosters will be at 7 p.m. at MJ’s Banquet Hall, 1735 Fourth Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. There will be a basket auction, cash bar and 50-50 raffle. BYO snacks. Must be 21. Cost: $25. Tickets: Heather, 724-448-4689.

Harrison 

Saturday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature the band Cool Change from 8 to 11 p.m. in the bar, 894 Veterans Lane. No cover charge. Public welcome.

Saturday: Building Block of Natrona will host its free Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet outreach for residents in need at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28 Garfield St., Natrona. Free produce and personal care and hygiene products will be distributed, first come, first served, while supplies last. Arrive by 12:30 p.m. to line up; supplies go quickly. No income verification required. Everyone is welcome.

Sunday: A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Lane. Cost: $10; children $5. Dine in or takeout.

Wednesday: The Kitchen Sink Book Club at Community Library of Allegheny Valley will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. The selection will be “Finding Dorothy” by Elizabeth Letts. Leechburg 

Saturday: The Clothing Closet at First Lutheran Church, 358 Main St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All items are 20 cents each. Please bring a bag. Donations welcome.

Saturday: Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church will have its free takeout monthly Pot Love Dinner at noon at the church, 271 Main St. Reservations required. There is a one dinner per family member limit. Those with reservations will be served first. Line-up will be outside and everyone is welcome. Reservations: 724-845-1901 or church@crcpc.org.

Lower Burrell

Today: The Mobile Veterans Program will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road. There will be coffee, conversation, a health education session and Gerofit exercise. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. followed by crafts and games. Sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs, all veterans are welcome.

New Kensington  

Saturday : A Penguin Hockey ticket raffle to benefit Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will be at 11 a.m. on Facebook Live. Tickets are for the 7 p.m. Jan. 27 game versus the Montreal Canadiens at PPG Paints Arena and include a Penguins gift basket. Cost: $10 per chance. Parks Township
