Volunteers needed at cat rescue

Kiski Valley Cat and Kitten Rescue is seeking volunteers to help at the shelter, located in Allegheny Township.

The rescue is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty and neglect toward cats and kittens and provides shelter and medical care until they find their forever home. Duties may include cleaning and replenishing food and water bowls, cleaning litter boxes, floors and enclosures, organizing, picking up supplies and playing with the animals.

Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one shift per week. Days and times are flexible. Volunteers younger that 16 must be supervised be a parent or guardian. To give your time, contact Renee at rgazarik@hotmail.com. To make a donation, visit kiskicats.org.

Feb. 11: Apollo Memorial Library is sponsoring a Valentine money raffle. The winning number will be the 7 p.m. Feb. 11 Pick 3 Pa. Lottery number. Cost: $2 per ticket, two numbers on each ticket. Winning number will receive $500 and the numbers one below and one above will each receive $25. Proceeds will benefit the library. Tickets: stop in at the library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Harrison  

Today: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Jan. 26: The new Kitchen Sink Book Club at Community Library of Allegheny Valley will meet at 6 p.m. in the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. The selection will be, “The Silent Patient” by Alex Michaelides. Leechburg

Jan. 29: A concert featuring King Lou Hock and his Flying Circus will be at 6 p.m. at the Marconi Club, 135 River Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. Proceeds from raffles and basket auction will benefit Pink Day. Lower Burrell

Saturday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature DJ Timmy V from 8 to 11 p.m. at the post. Members and three guests

Tuesday: The Tuesday Night Book Club at Springdale Free Public Library will meet at 6:30 p.m. The selection will be, “Boys In The Boat,” by Daniel James Brown. Reservations and masks required. Reservations: 724-274-9729.

Summit Township

Today: Vandergrift Public Library and Kiski Area Youth Network will host a free Teen Afterhours event from 6 to 9 p.m. for students in sixth through 12th grade at the library, 128C Washington Ave. Teens can enjoy food, games and friends with adult supervision. Washington Township

Today: Bingo at Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company is canceled this week and will resume Jan. 28.

West Deer
