Allegheny Valley Association of Churches accepting donations for food bank

Donations are welcome for the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches food bank in Harrison.

Items most needed include canned meat, tuna and chicken, sauerkraut, chicken broth, spaghetti sauce, sugar-free items, gluten-free items, toiletries, feminine products, cleaning supplies, baby formula and Ensure. Drop-off times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the office, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights.

Weather science program planned by Leechburg library

Leechburg Public Library will sponsor a free weather science program with author Diana Perry at 6 p.m. Feb. 3 in the Marconi Club ballroom, 135 River Ave.

The event is suitable for children in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Reservations are required. For reservations, call 724-236-0080 or stop in at the library, 139 Market St.

Feb. 11: Apollo Memorial Library is sponsoring a Valentine money raffle. The winning number will be the 7 p.m. Feb. 11 Pick 3 Pa. Lottery number. Cost: $2 per ticket, two numbers on each ticket. Friday: St. Vladimir Church, 1610 Kenneth Ave., is accepting orders for its weekly pierogi sale. Varieties: potato or sauerkraut. Pickup: 12:30 to 4 p.m. Fridays at the church social hall.
