Fundraiser to aid Humane Society of Westmoreland County
The fourth annual Festival of Love Family Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at Salem Lutheran Church, 301 E Pittsburgh St., Delmont.
The menu includes spaghetti, tossed salad and bread. Those attending are asked to bring a dessert to share.
There will be a DJ, dancing, crafts and games. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Humane Society of Westmoreland County.
Reservations are required. For reservations, call 724-468-4189 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Reservation deadline is Feb. 12.
Allegheny Valley Hospital seeking volunteers
Allegheny Valley Hospital is recruiting volunteers to join the lobby escort, information desk and surgical reception teams.

Community choir welcoming new members
The Academy Singers Community Choir is looking for new voices to join their group.
The Academy Singers is for singers who want to learn more about choral singing. Selections will include standards, Broadway hits, jazz and light classical music. All voice parts are welcome.
Rehearsals are from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Jan. 28 at the studio in Allegheny Towne Center, Allegheny Township. Sandy Rubright is director.

Armstrong County
Conservation group to have fruit tree, seedling sale
Armstrong Conservation District will conduct its annual fruit tree and seedling sale through March 13.
Fruit varieties include: apple, cherry, pear, peach and plum. Trees range from 4 to 6 feet in height, are bare rooted and packed in peat moss. Cost is $20; and $25 for cherry trees. Tree guards are available at $2 each.
Other varieties available include: American Beech, American Elderberry, American Red Pine, Black Gum, Concolor Fir, Northern Bayberry, Norway Spruce, Old Fashioned Lilac, Osage Orange, Red Mulberry, White Flowering Dogwood and White Oak. All are sold in bundles of 25. Cost is $20 per bundle, except for Black Gum and American Elderberry, which are $25. Prices include tax.
Distribution will be from 8 to 11 a.m. April 18 at Lenape Technical School, 2215 Chaplin Ave., Manor Township. For an order form, visit armstrongcd.org or email jjschaub@co.armstrong.pa.us. Orders and payments are due March 13. Proceeds will benefit county environmental projects and activities.

Penn State New Kensington plans SAT prep course
Penn State New Kensington will offer an SAT Preparation course from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays Feb. 1 through March 7 at the campus, 3550 Seventh St. Road, Upper Burrell.
Topics will include test-taking strategies and study skills. Members of the admissions department will explain what universities and colleges look for in a student.
The book required is the 2020 edition of, “The Official SAT Study Guide.” Cost is $200 and includes the book; $175 if students bring their own copy. To register and for details, call Beth at 724-334-6011.

DASH diet cooking class offered
The Westmoreland County Penn State Extension Office, 214 Donohoe Road, Hempfield, will offer a class, “Let’s Cook the DASH Diet,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 6 at the office.
The DASH diet can help to lower blood pressure. In this hands-on class, participants will learn about correct portion sizes and how to prepare and eat a variety of foods.
