Evening of music to benefit Leechburg Pink Day

The Leechburg Marconi Club will host The Love Carnival, an evening of music in memory of Robert “Hari” Harris, at 6 p.m. Saturday at the club, 135 River Ave., Leechburg.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and performances will be by members of the Flying Circus, Pat & Dave and the Lenny Collini FaMiLyPaK. Admission is free and there will be raffles, food and cash bar. Proceeds will all be donated to Leechburg Pink Day.


Food drive planned Saturday in Lower Burrell

The Fallen Officers Food Drive to benefit the St. Margaret Mary Church food pantry and the Westmoreland County Food Bank will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mogie’s Irish Pub & Magill’s Grill, 3210 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

The event is in memory of the late K9 Officer Derek Kotecki, Officer Brian Shaw and Chief Justin McIntire.


Lenten fish fry listings wanted

Ash Wednesday is just around the corner and so is Fish Fry season! Lent begins Feb. 14 on Ash Wednesday and The Stroller is compiling the annual big list of fish fries.

Today: The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center will distribute free grab-and-go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the center parking lot, 917 Brackenridge Ave. Free grocery items from Walmart and Aldi will be available. Everyone is welcome.

East Vandergrift

Feb. 10: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish will host a cash bash in the church social hall, 411 McKinley Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first number will be drawn at 7 p.m. Cost: $30, includes food, beverages and a chance to win $3,000 in cash prizes. Must be 21 to attend. There will be pull tabs, a scratch-off lottery board, theme baskets and 50-50 raffles. Gilpin 

Today: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7:15 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Saturday: The Armstrong County Republican Committee will host a petition-signing event from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Gilpin Volunteer Firehall, 113 Firehall Road. A free breakfast will be served, while the food lasts. Petitions will range from Republican candidates at the Presidential level, including Trump petitions, Senate, Congress, National Delegate, State Senate and Legislative candidates. Signers must be registered Republican voters. Voter registration forms for new voters will be available. Harrison

Today and Friday: Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a Pittsburgh Penguin ticket raffle. Tickets are in section 118 Row J, seats 11 and 12 for the 7 p.m. Feb. 22 game versus the Montreal Canadiens. Cost: $1 each, cash only and will be sold from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the hospital main lobby, 1301 Carlisle St. The drawing will be at 2 p.m. Friday. Proceeds will benefit auxiliary-sponsored projects.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50-50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Saturday: A presentation about the findings of the Harrison Hills Park Ecological Assessment and Action Plan and future plans for the park will be at 11 a.m. in the park Environmental Learning Center. Coffee, tea and snacks will be served.

Saturday: The new Dungeons & Dragons Club at Community Library of Allegheny Valley will meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. Players must be at least in sixth grade. All dice and materials will be provided. Beginners welcome. Details: 724-226-3491.

Feb. 4: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will sponsor a super bingo at 2 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Feb. 18: Burrell Youth Wrestling will sponsor a cash raffle for prizes of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,000 at the Supertrophy Tournament set for 9 a.m. at Burrell High School gymnasium. The drawing will be during the 2 p.m. session break. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Winner need not be present. There will be food trucks and concessions all day. Raffle tickets: $100 each. Saxonburg

Wednesday: South Butler Community Library will host a program “Holocaust Survivor Story” at 4:30 p.m. at the library, 240 W. Main St. Speaker Lee Goldman Kikel will tell her father’s story of survival during the Holocaust. The program is recommended for those who are at least 12 years old. Springdale 

Today: The diaper pantry at St. Mark Lutheran Church will distribute free diapers from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church, 600 Pittsburgh St. Recipients must register in advance. First-time recipients must provide their own ID, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card. Distributions will be the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Feb. 3: The Saturday Adventure Time program at Springdale Free Public Library, 331 School St., will host Take Your Child to the Library Day at 11 a.m. Children of all ages will build a ground hog stuffed animal, receive a book and have a treat.
