Cat food donations needed at Frankie’s Friends Rescue

Frankie’s Friends Cat Rescue, New Kensington, is in need of donations of Purina Cat Chow Complete in the blue bag.

Items can be dropped off from 9 to 10 a.m. or 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays or shipped to the rescue at 730 Fifth Ave.


River City Brass Band to perform at Kiski Area High School

The River City Brass Band will play a concert, “Sounds of the 60s” to benefit the Kiski Area Education Foundation at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14 in the high school auditorium, 240 Hyde Park Road, Allegheny Township.

Winter coat drive to benefit Rosedale Food Pantry

Lori Hummel of Howard Hanna Real Estate, Oakmont, is sponsoring a winter coat drive through March 1.

New or gently-used adult and children’s winter coats, gloves, mittens and hats can be dropped off in the blue bin at her home, 21 Oak Glen Drive, Oakmont.

Items will be given to the Rosedale Food Pantry’s Clothing Closet that serves over 700 families in Oakmont, Verona, Plum and Penn Hills.

Brackenridge Salvation Army to serve free lunch

A free community lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army, 917 Brackenridge Ave., Brackenridge.

Feb. 6: Allegheny Valley Hospital PriorityCare program will offer the one day AARP Smart Driver Program refresher course from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Charles Young Center of the hospital, 1301 Carlisle St. Participants must have completed the two-day class within the past 36 months and bring a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
