Voting to begin in library quilt show

Community Library of Allegheny Valley will host its 26th annual Quilt Show Thursday to March 2 online and in person at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd., Natrona Heights.

Entries will be accepted through Wednesday and voting will begin Thursday at the library. There is no cost to enter, view or vote on a quilt. The quilt with the most votes in each category will be announced at a reception planned for March 2.

Arnold

Tuesday: A free community lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Tomb, 1821 Fifth Ave. Details: 878-847-5646.

Friday: St. Vladimir Church, 1610 Kenneth Ave., is accepting orders for its pierogi sale. Varieties: potato or sauerkraut. Pickup: 12:30 to 4 p.m. Friday in the church social hall. Cost: $12 per dozen. Orders: 724-339-9257, 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

East Vandergrift 

Feb. 10: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish will host a cash bash in the church social hall, 411 McKinley Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first number will be drawn at 7 p.m. Cost: $30, includes food, beverages and a chance to win $3,000 in cash prizes. Must be 21 to attend. There will be pull tabs, a scratch-off lottery board, theme baskets and 50-50 raffles. Tickets: Crystal, 724-882-9212, after Sunday Mass in the church vestibule and in the parish office.

Harrison 

Thursday: A story time for children age 3 to 5 and their siblings will be at 10 a.m. at Community Library of Allegheny Valley, 1522 Broadview Blvd. This week’s theme will be foxes. No reservations required. Details: alleghenyvalleylibrary.org.

Feb. 4: The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary will sponsor a super bingo at 2 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Cost: $35 in advance; $40 at the door; includes bingo package and lunch. Non-smoking venue. Tickets: Lorraine, 412-537-5954 or the post, 724-904-7649. Proceeds benefit local veterans in need.

Lower Burrell

Tuesday: Peoples Library will host a family story time at 1 p.m. at the library, 3052 Wachter St. Details: 724-339-1021.

Tuesdays: Redemption Church, 232 Hillcrest Drive, will offer a GriefShare support group for anyone who has lost a loved one from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays Jan. 23 through April 16 at the church. Reservations appreciated, but not required. Reservations: GriefShare.org.

New Kensington

Tuesday and Saturday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes, purses, blankets and linens. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Winter clothing donations welcome during business hours.

Feb. 3: The Saturday Adventure Time program at Springdale Free Public Library, 331 School St., will host Take Your Child to the Library Day at 11 a.m. Children of all ages will build a ground hog stuffed animal, receive a book and have a treat.
