Volunteers needed at Allegheny Valley Hospital

Allegheny Valley Hospital is recruiting volunteers to join the lobby escort, information desk and surgical reception teams.

Weight management cooking class offered

The Penn State Extension Office will offer a class, “Let’s Cook for Weight Management,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 21 at Sampson Family YMCA Teaching Kitchen, 2200 Golden Mile Highway, Murrysville.

Registration deadline is Jan. 16. The cost is $39.

Harrison

Lecture on cancer management planned

The PriorityCare program at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison, will offer a free lecture, “Introduction to the Lung Cancer 3Navigator Program,” at noon Jan. 27 in the Charles W. Young Conference Center at the hospital, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights.

Medical oncologist Dr. Gene Finley and representatives from MedRespond LLC will explain how to use MedRespond’s eNavigator program as a resource for living with cancer. There will be a question and answer session.

Stroke Support group offered

Allegheny Valley Hospital offers a Stroke Support Group from 6 to 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month in the hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Activities Room 2A, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights.

The next meeting will be Jan. 15. Meetings include a guest speaker, time for questions and resources. Registration is required.
