Knead Community Café accepting donations
Knead Community Café, New Kensington, is accepting donations to help the daily operation of the café, 1011 Barnes St.
Items on the café’s wish list include white premium napkins, Clorox wipes, disposable latex or nitrile gloves size large or extra-large, , 6x6-inch or 9x9-inch single compartment Styrofoam hinged takeout containers, foil sheet wraps, instant iced tea mix with lemon and sugar, Tide or Gain laundry powdered detergent and Sam’s Club gift cards.
Donations will be accepted during business hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Armstrong Conservation group to have fruit tree, seedling sale
Armstrong Conservation District will conduct its annual fruit tree and seedling sale through March 5.
Fruit varieties include apple, pear, peach and plum. Trees range from 4 to 6 feet in height, are bare rooted and packed in peat moss. Cost is $20. Tree guards are available at $2 each. Varieties are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders are encouraged to be placed early.
Tree seedling varieties available include American Mountain Ash, Button Bush, Chinese Chestnut, Colorado Blue Spruce, Douglas Fir, Eastern White Pine, Norway Spruce, Sawtooth Oak ‘Gobbler’, Shagbark Hickory, Sugar Maple and Winterberry Holly.
All are sold in bundles of 25. Cost is $20 per bundle, except for Chinese Chestnut, Sawtooth Oak, Shagbark Hickory and Sugar Maple, which are $25. Prices include tax.

Monday: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will offer a new free book club, “I Survived,” at 5 p.m. for children in third through sixth grade online at Zoom.us. This historical fiction series tells a terrifying and thrilling story from history, through the eyes of a kid who lived to tell the tale. Words may include vivid details. Meets one Monday a month.
