HOPE Center seeking volunteers

The Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center has many opportunities for volunteers to help the organization in its quest to eliminate domestic violence.

Volunteers are needed to work with children, drive to Pittsburgh to courier food to Tarentum, organize events, present programs in schools and assist in the administration building.

Free diapers available to local families

The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church, Harrison, is seeking donations of diapers in sizes 2 to 6 for its monthly diaper pantry distribution.

The pantry will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 926 Painter Ave., Natrona Heights.

To qualify to receive a package of 50 diapers or 25 Pull-Ups per child, parents or guardians must present their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Lower Burrell

Saturday: The Clothes Line at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 3084 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A variety of clothes for all members of the family will be sold for 25 cents each or five for $1. Details: 724-335-0559

Saturday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature the bands Magic and Hot Metal Brass from 8 to 11 p.m. in the post. Members and three guests welcome.

Oakmont

Friday: The free movie series at 7 p.m. at Oakmont Presbyterian Church, 415 Pennsylvania Ave. will feature the film, “Tolkien,” rated PG-13, in the church multi-purpose room on the lower level. Free popcorn. Details: 412-828-5770

Monday: The Cookbook Club at Oakmont Carnegie Library will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the library White Oak Room. Stop in the library, look through this month’s cookbook, select a recipe you would like to make, and prepare and bring it to the meeting. Tableware will be provided. New members welcome. Springdale

Saturday: Springdale Free Public Library will present an Adventure Time with PALS and Animal Friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library. Meet Linda and her bunny and enjoy a storytime and crafts. Registration required. Registration: 724-274- 9729

Tarentum

Saturday: An all you can eat pancake breakfast will be from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Masons, Fourth Avenue and Lock Street. Cost: $8; children, free. Dine in or take out. Proceeds benefit local outreach projects.
