Free community picnic set in Harrison

Fun and Freedom Inc. will host a free community picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Natrona Park and Playground, River Avenue, Harrison.

There will be food, face painting, a DJ, sports and games. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 724-274-7773.

Freeport 

Through Saturday: Freeport Area Library, 428 Market St., will sponsor a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the library. Today: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harmar

Today: The free Thunder Thursdays Summer Music Series will feature the band Recycled Vinyl at 7 p.m. the Syria Shrine Center, 1877 Shriners Way, rain or shine. Gates open at 6 p.m. There is free parking and food and beverages will be sold. No tailgating or outside food or drinks permitted.

Today: Burtner House Restoration Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Harrison municipal building, 1 Municipal Drive. New members and volunteers welcome.

Hampton 

Friday : A free guided hike with park rangers, “Fascinating Fireflies,” will be from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Hartwood Acres Park. Meet at the Middle Road parking lot. Flashlights will be provided. Bring water and wear closed-toe shoes. Reservations required. Reservations: tinyurl.com/445n9s8v.

Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Jefferson Township

Today: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.

Leechburg   

Saturday : The Shawn Deslauriers Memorial Bocce Tournament will begin at noon at the 135 Marconi Club, River Avenue. Saturday: A free Christmas in July movie will be screened at 9 p.m. at in the baseball field area of the borough park on Grove Street. Gates open at 8 p.m. The featured film will be “Elf.” Bring a chair or blanket to sit on and snacks.

Saxonburg  

Today: The dementia caregiver support group at South Butler Community Library will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. at the library, 240 W. Main St. The group meets the second Thursday of each month and provides a safe place for caregivers to share their feelings and discuss their day-to-day challenges. No reservations required.
