Apollo Library to open to patrons

Apollo Memorial Library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave., will reopen to use by patrons by appointment beginning Friday.

Same day appointments are required and will last for 30 minutes. Times available will be at 11 a.m., and 1 and 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Patrons must enter and exit via the front door. The rear door will be locked.

Services available will include computer use, dog license purchasing, passport acceptance and browsing new books. Porchside pickup of materials will still be offered. The book drop will be continued to be used to return materials.

Patrons must wear face masks and obey social distancing guidelines. For an appointment, call 724-478-4214.

Tarentum concert in the park canceled

The Daniels & McClain concert scheduled for tonight in Tarentum’s Riverview Memorial Mark is canceled.

Recent concerts have had over 100 attendees which violates the current Allegheny County orders for outdoor gatherings.

Freeport Theatre Festival to present, ‘The Grimsby Lads’

The Freeport Theatre Festival will present, “The Grimsby Lads,” at 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through July 26 at the Steele Family Farm off Route 356 on White Cloud Road in Allegheny Township.

Tickets are $15; senior citizens, $12; students and members of the military, $10. Parking is free and the venue is handicap accessible.

Tickets will be sold at 50 percent capacity; therefore, reservations are strongly recommended. Patrons will be guided to their reserved seats by an usher one party at a time. All theater personnel will be wearing face masks and patrons are asked to please wear a mask as they enter.

Pot Love Dinner planned Saturday in Leechburg

Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, Leechburg, will host its monthly free Pot Love Dinner at noon Saturday at the church, 271 Main St.

The event will be takeout only and reservations are required by Friday. There is a limit of one dinner per family member. Those with reservations will be served first. For reservations, call 724-845-1901 or email church@crcpc.org.

Line-up will be outside and social distancing must be observed. This month’s meal was donated by a local caterer.

Free produce distribution planned Saturday in Natrona

Editor’s Note: This event has been canceled due to the expected hot weather.

Building Block of Natrona will host its free Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet outreach for residents in need at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28 Garfield St., Natrona, Harrison.

Patrons are asked to arrive at 1 p.m. because supplies run out quickly. Free produce, and personal care and hygiene products will be distributed.

Extra hygiene steps will be taken. Income verification is not required, and everyone is welcome. Please wear a face mask.

Free milk products to be distributed

Free dairy products will be distributed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Heights Plaza, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Recipients should drive up, remain in your vehicle and boxes will be loaded into your trunk. No registration is required. Service will be first come, first served, one box per family.

The event is sponsored by Harvest Community Church, Harrison, in conjunction with Marburger Dairy, the USDA Food and Drug Administration, local dairy producers and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. For details, visit harvestpa.org or call the church at 724-548-5643.

Free covid-19 testing available at New Kensington clinic

The New Kensington Community Health Care Clinic now offers free walk-up/drive-up covid-19 testing at the clinic, 743 Fourth Ave.

No prescription is required and people with and without symptoms can be tested. Results will be available in two to three days.

People with insurance must provide insurance information but will not have any copay. There is no charge those without insurance.

July 31: Valley Points Family YMCA is sponsoring a Christmas in July raffle for complete one roll each of $20, $10 and $5 scratch-off tickets. Cost: $10 per chance. The winning number will be taken from the July 31 evening Pa. Pick-3 Lottery. Proceeds will benefit the YMCA Financial Assistance Program. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. Apollo 

Apollo Area Historical Society Museum has reopened. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The current display features vintage toys.

Brackenridge

Freeport 

Saturday: The Kiwanis Club will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Fifth St. Dine in or take out. Cost: $8.

Harrison

Friday: The free Allegheny County Date Night Drive-In Movie series will feature the film, “Knives Out,” at sundown at Hartwood Acres Park.

Kiski Township

Saturday: 2021 lottery calendars to benefit the building fund of Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department will be sold from 3 to 6 p.m. at the firehall, 1037 Route 56. Saturday: The ClothesLine ministry at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 3084 Leechburg Road, will take place outdoors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Face masks and social distancing are required. The number of people admitted at one time may be limited. Clothing, shoes and purses will be 25 cents each or five for $1. In case of rain, the event will be canceled. New Kensington

Saturday and Monday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays. Face masks are required, and a maximum of 25 people can be in the store at one time. Donations welcome.

Butler

Aug. 28: The Butler High School Class of 1970 reunion is canceled and rescheduled to be the weekend of Aug. 28, 2121 at Butler Country Club. There are plans for a neighborhood night and golf outing.

Fawn

Alle-Kiski Music Day Camp planned for July 26-31 is canceled due to the covid-19 pandemic. Organizers would like to thank those made donations this year.

Ford City

Aug. 29: The Armstrong County Labor Day Parade and Ethnic Feastival are canceled.

Freeport

September: The annual September By the River festival is canceled.

October: The Freeport Halloween carnival is canceled.

Aug. 22: The Wine and Food Festival planned at Burtner House is canceled. No decision on the Harvest Festival has been made yet.  

Kittanning

Leechburg

Sept. 19: The annual Pink Day festival is canceled.

Leechburg High School Class of 1960 Reunion planned for August is postponed until Aug. 7, 2021.

July 22: The Leechburg Area School Board meeting is canceled.

Oakmont

Sept. 12: Springdale Volunteer Fire Department has rescheduled the May Cash Bash to be Sept. 12. Current tickets will be honored in September and the Progressive 50/50 will be drawn. Please hold on to your tickets. The fire department thanks you for your understanding and support and urges everyone to stay safe.

West Deer

West Deer Farmers Market is canceled..
