Sportsmen’s association plans youth Sportsfest

Vandergrift Sportsmen’s Association will host a free NRA-supported Youth Sportsfest from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at the club, Sportsmen’s Drive, Washington Township.

Activities will include archery, flintlock rifle, 22-gauge rifle and clay target shooting. Information will be available from the Pa. Fish and Boat Commission, Pa. Game Commission, Tri-County Trout Club and the Wild Turkey Federation.

Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels seeking volunteers

Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver meals in Arnold, New Kensington and Lower Burrell.

Freeport

Today: Building Block of Natrona will host its free Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet outreach for residents in need at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28 Garfield St., Natrona. Masks are optional and everyone is welcome.

Today: Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church will have its free takeout monthly Pot Love Dinner at noon at the church, 271 Main St. Reservations required by noon Friday. New Kensington 

Today and Tuesday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes and linens. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Summer clothing donations accepted during business hours.

Sunday: Aluminum City Terrace Activities Group will host a bingo from 2 to 4 p.m. in the activities center, 136 Aluminum City Terrace. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Snacks will be served. Public welcome.

Sunday: Peoples Library is conducting a basket raffle to benefit the library. Baskets are on display at the New Kensington location, 880 Barnes St., and photographs of the baskets are available at the Lower Burrell library, 3052 Wachter St. Cost: $5 each. Tickets: at both libraries.

Oakmont

Through Aug. 31: Panera Bread Café will donate a portion of sales from each Frozen Agave Lemonade, Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, Lemon Drop Cookie and Lemonade tote sold to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a pediatric cancer charity that funds cancer treatment and research. Donations will also be accepted. Participating stores include Pittsburgh Mills Mall, Frazer, and Allegheny River Blvd., Oakmont.

O’Hara
