Bus service reinstated in Oakmont and Verona

Riverview Community Action Corporation bus service for residents of Oakmont and Verona is back in operation.

Service is available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays by reservation. Only three people will be allowed on the bus at a time to allow for social distancing and masks must be worn on the bus.

Drivers will take the temperature of all riders and may refuse service if they think a rider is sick.

Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling 412-828-1062, no exceptions.


New cancellations announced

Saturday: Risen to Save concert at Pittsburgh-Tarentum Campmeeting Association, Harrison.

Saturday: The Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet planned by Building Block of Natrona, is canceled out of an abundance of caution due to the expected high temperatures.

The Knights of Columbus Hall cannot accommodate social distancing and the team is concerned recipients might suffer heat-related issues while waiting in line for doors to open.

The next event is planned for 1 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

If social distancing has forced you into an unsafe situation, help is available by calling the Alle-Kiski HOPE Center 24-hour hotline at 724-224-1266.

The hotline provides information about domestic violence, community resources, safety planning, support and more.


Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church plans outdoor worship service

Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, Leechburg, will have an outdoor worship service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company grounds at the bottom of First Street, Leechburg.

Those attending should wear a mask and bring a lawn chair. Social distancing will be observed. Please do not park between the social hall and the truck facility. Parking will be in the lot.

Penn State Extension offers free webinar about Mediterranean Diet

Penn State Extension will offer a free webinar, “Mediterranean Diet on a Budget, from noon to 1 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 29. Choose either session.

Campmeeting Association plans services in Harrison

The Pittsburgh-Tarentum Campmeeting Association, 1451 Main St., Natrona Heights, Harrison, will have a service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the campground. The Rev. Jeff Harold Mele will be the speaker.

Evangelist Tim Williams from Overcomers Ministry will preach at a service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.


Online catalog available again at Oakmont Library

The online catalog at Oakmont Carnegie Library is available for use by patrons once more.

Materials from other Allegheny County libraries can be ordered and picked up at the Oakmont library, 700 Allegheny River Blvd.

July 31: Valley Points Family YMCA is sponsoring a Christmas in July raffle for complete one roll each of $20, $10 and $5 scratch-off tickets. Cost: $10 per chance.
