Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank to stop in Vandergrift

As part of its pop-up tour, the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank will distribute free diapers from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at East Primary School, 420 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift.

To ensure enough diapers are available, registration is requested by emailing your name, number of children and diaper sizes to info@wpadiaperbank.org.

The Diaper Bank is seeking volunteers. To offer your time, email info@wpadiaperbank.org.


Penn State Extension offers free webinar about food safety

Penn State Extension will offer a free webinar, “Food Safety for Donated Foods, from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday.

Topics to be covered will include why food safety is important to your organization and understanding what types of foods can be donated safely.

Free diapers and food available at Highlands Family Center

Highlands Family Center, Tarentum, will distribute free diapers, produce and dairy products from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the center, 415 E. Fourth Ave.

Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church accepting contributions

The Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, is accepting donations of clothing for men, women and children, as well as purses, shoes and belts.

Donations will be accepted during Closet operating hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the church, 305 Allegheny St., and by appointment.

Salvation Army offers free lunches

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Allegheny Township/Harrison/New Kensington

July 31: Valley Points Family YMCA is sponsoring a Christmas in July raffle for complete one roll each of $20, $10 and $5 scratch-off tickets. Cost: $10 per chance. The winning number will be taken from the July 31 evening Pa. Pick-3 Lottery. Proceeds will benefit the YMCA Financial Assistance Program. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. Butler

Aug. 28: The Butler High School Class of 1970 reunion is canceled and rescheduled to be the weekend of Aug. 28, 2121 at Butler Country Club. There are plans for a neighborhood night and golf outing.

Aug. 29: The Armstrong County Labor Day Parade and Ethnic Feastival are canceled.

Freeport

September: The annual September By the River festival is canceled.

October: The Freeport Halloween carnival is canceled. 

Harrison

Aug. 22: The Wine and Food Festival planned at Burtner House is canceled. No decision on the Harvest Festival has been made yet.  

Leechburg

Sept. 19: The annual Pink Day festival is canceled.

Leechburg High School Class of 1960 Reunion planned for August is postponed until Aug. 7, 2021.

Leechburg Area School District

Wednesday: The Leechburg Area School Board meeting is canceled.

Oakmont

Oct. 3: The Cash Giveaway Bash sponsored by Upper Burrell and Parks volunteer fire companies is canceled.

Springdale

Oct. 3: The Monte Carlo Night planned by Springdale High School Alumni Association is canceled. Association meetings are suspended until further notice.

Sept. 12: Springdale Volunteer Fire Department has rescheduled the May Cash Bash to be Sept. 12. Current tickets will be honored in September and the Progressive 50/50 will be drawn. Please hold on to your tickets. The fire department thanks you for your understanding and support and urges everyone to stay safe.

West Deer

West Deer Farmers Market is canceled..

July 31 and Aug. 1: West Deer Community Days are canceled.
