Annual Artfest slated Sunday in Vandergrift
Vandergrift Artfest will be noon to 8 p.m. Sunday on Grant Avenue between Columbia and Sumner avenues in downtown Vandergrift.
Artwork will also be on display at the old J. C. Penney building, 134 Grant Ave., and in a pop-up gallery in Full Circle Furniture and Gifts, 140 Grant St. There are 75 artists and vendors registered to participate.
Music will be performed on the main stage at the corner of Columbia and Grant avenues and tables and chairs will be available. Local dancers will perform on Farragut Avenue near the post office. Food trucks will be located all around the event.
Parking will be available on all streets around the festival area and in the lots on Washington and Columbia avenues and by the firehall on Franklin Avenue.
Free jazz concert planned at Hartwood Acres
The Allegheny County Summer Concert Series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater, Indiana Township, will feature a free jazz performance by Lisa Fischer at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
The event is sponsored by BNY Mellon. Food trucks will open at 6 p.m. Rain or shine.
Drive-through food distribution set at Lernerville Speedway
Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road, Buffalo Township. No cars are permitted to arrive before 11 a.m.
Reservations are required to ensure enough food is available and they fill up quickly. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/get-help/drive-up/butler/ or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655. There is no required proof of eligibility, and anyone is eligible for food.
Medical school scholarship available for local students
The Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation is accepting applications for the $5,000 Dr. Richard A. Wilson Memorial Scholarship Award.
To be eligible, candidates must be starting their first year of medical school this summer or fall, graduated from a high school in the Alle-Kiski Valley, completed an undergraduate program and been accepted into an accredited medical school or osteopathic school of medicine and be pursuing a doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathic medicine degree.
