Shaw Memorial Scholarship Ride accepting registrations

The fifth annual Officer Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship Ride will be Aug. 13 at the Pittsburgh Shrine Center, 1877 Shriners Way, Harmar.

Check-in will be at 8:30 a.m. and kick stands up will be at 10 a.m. Cost is $20 per rider and $10 per passenger if paid by Aug. 6; and $30 per rider and $20 per passenger the day of the event. A post-ride event will include food, beverages, games and entertainment.

Golf outing to benefit Trails of Valor charity

The Glenn T. Gillott Memorial Golf Outing to benefit Trails of Valor will be Aug. 27 at the Links at Spring Church, 3257 Balsiger Road, Kiski Township.

Check-in will begin at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. Cost is $90 per golfer and includes a cart, T-shirt, hot dog at the turn, beer, pop and a buffet lunch.

Sponsored by the Vandergrift Veterans of Foreign Wars and its auxiliary, proceeds will benefit Trails of Valor, an organization that relies completely on donations to provide free service dogs to eligible veterans, as well as training and free dog food for the life of the dog.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and baskets needed for a silent auction. Registration deadline is Aug. 1. For registration information, contact Stefani Belles at stefanibelles@comcast.net.
