Fundraiser to benefit back-to-school bash

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Paul Field Back-to-School Bash will be from 2 to 6 p.m. July 27 at the Brackenridge American Legion, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Cost is $10 and $8 for children 8 and younger. There will be a DJ, a basket raffle, bake sale and 50-50.

The back-to-school bash will be Aug. 23 at the Salvation Army of Allegheny Valley in Brackenridge.

Mat Kearney to perform at Hartwood Acres

The free 2025 Allegheny County Summer Concert series will feature Matt Kearney at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater, 4070 Middle Road, Hampton.

Bring a chair. Popup tents and umbrellas are permitted but must be taken down before the performance begins. Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash at all times and be up to date on all vaccinations and licensing.

Summer festival on tap at Concordia Lutheran Ministries

The 144^th annual Concordia Lutheran Ministries Summer Festival will be from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Lund Care Center backyard, 134 Marwood Road, Jefferson.

The event is open to the public and admission and parking are free. A picnic lunch will be served beginning at 12:30 p.m. and Chuck Blasko and the Vogues will be featured at 1:30 p.m. There will be a car cruise, picnic-themed food, activities and a fishing derby for children 12 and younger. Food tents will accept cash only. The Rev. John Pingel, Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod Eastern District President, will be the featured speaker at a 4 p.m. worship service.

Aug. 13: Our Lady, Queen of Peace and St. James parishes are accepting reservations for a bus trip to Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh. Cost: $30, includes $20 in free play. Saturday : Join Allegheny County Park Rangers for a day of habitat restoration from 9 a.m. to noon at Deer Lakes Park. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Veterans I shelter. Volunteers will use hand tools to remove invasive species and may plant native species. Expect to participate in physical activity. No experience is necessary.
