Super bingo planned by Washington Township VFC

Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company will host a super bingo Aug. 20 at the firehall, 4078 Route 66.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo starts at 2 p.m. Those attending must be at least 18 or accompanied by a parent. Cost is $35 in advance and will be $40 at the door, if available. There will be 24 games of bingo, including two $1,000 cover-all jackpot games. Reserved seating is available for groups of six or more. There will be food, instant tickets, beverages and a 50/50 raffle.

5K race to benefit Deer Lakes track and field, cross-country teams

A 5K walk and run to benefit Deer Lakes High School track and field and cross-country teams will be Aug. 13 at the high school in West Deer.

The race will start in the high school parking lot and end on the stadium track. A kids 1-mile fun run will also be on the track. The 5K begins at 9:30 a.m. and the fun run will start at 10:30 a.m. Entry fee for the 5K is $25 and $15 for the kids fun run. Cash awards will be given to the top 5K finishers.

Household, personal item donations needed

The Family Promise program at Allegheny Valley Association of Churches needs supplies for the families that it serves.

Items most needed include shampoo, conditioner, new children’s underwear, disinfectant wipes, small bottles of dish soap, disposable storage containers and cutlery and microwavable paper plates. Donations can be brought from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays to the ministry center, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Clearfield Township

Friday and Saturday: An indoor/outdoor rummage sale will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John School, 668 S. Clearfield Road, Fenelton. Food will sold and proceeds will benefit the charities supported by the St. Francis Parish Marian Guild.

Freeport 

Today: The Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All items are free, but donations will be accepted. Items available include clothing of all sizes, bedding and window items. Donations of clothing, shoes and boots welcome; must be laundered and free from smoke and pet hair. Wheelchair accessible. Gilpin

Thursday: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7:15 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harrison

Today: The Becky’s Closet community clothing store at Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadview Blvd., will have a Christmas in July sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Clothing and Christmas decorations will be available at very low cost. Donations welcome during this time.

Today: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Food bank participants can receive food allotments twice per month. Today: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Clean summer clothing in all sizes is needed. No housewares or bedding please due to lack of space. Bring donations on Wednesday or leave them on the front porch. Do not place donations in the blue bins behind the church.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Friday: The free summer children’s playground program sponsored by Natrona Comes Together Association will present a program about dyeing with the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum at 12:30 p.m. at the park pavilion, 10 River Ave.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature the Cool Change Band from 8 to 11 p.m. in the post bar, 894 Veterans Lane.

Jefferson

Thursday: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.

Kittanning

Tarentum
