Local musicians to be featured at community day and music festival

A free community and music festival will be from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Mother of God Church community center, 407 Freeport Road, South Buffalo.

Performances will be by AJ and CJ, Jacob Schaeffer, Above and Beyond, the Beck/Wells Band; Msgr. Gilbert Gente, Jaime Phillips and Francine Corsi; Inner Space, Sarah Altman and Chad Michelini.

There will be food, games, beverages and family activities.


New access to Kiski River to open in Leechburg

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new Leechburg canoe and kayak access will be at noon Saturday in Leechburg Riverfront Park on Kiski Avenue past the post office.

The event is sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, CNX Foundation, Armstrong County Commissioners, Armstrong Conservation District and Leechburg Borough. The public is welcome.


Health/wellness fair planned in New Kensington

A community health, wellness and career fair will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday between Barnes and 10th streets in New Kensington.

New Kensington Police Department will help residents fill out the required forms to replace their hard-to-read license plates. Bring a digital photograph of your license plate and current vehicle registration. Officers will also assist those in need of a Persons with Disabilities parking placard.

There will be over 40 exhibitors and the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department bloodhound team will perform a demonstration from 10 to 11 a.m. in the red tent. The event is sponsored by the office of Rep. Jill Cooper. In case of rain, the event will be in the Banquet on Barnes at Knead Community Café, 1100 Barnes St.

Saturday: Freeport Renaissance Association will sponsor free performances by Katelyn Hemphill at 6 p.m. and the Family Tradition Band at 7 p.m., both in the Hope Garden, 211 Fifth St.

Harrison

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Friday: The free summer children’s playground program sponsored by Natrona Comes Together Association will present a program about dyeing with the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum at 12:30 p.m. at the park pavilion, 10 River Ave.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature the Cool Change Band from 8 to 11 p.m. in the post bar, 894 Veterans Lane.

Jefferson
