Parade, fireworks planned at West Deer Community Days
West Deer Community Days will be Friday and Saturday in Bairdford Park, West Deer.
Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday. The parade will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Friday at St. Victor Church with participants marching to the park where all activities are free. Entertainment and events include DJ Wild Bill, a balloon artist, hayrides and a magic show.
Saturday’s activities include will be inflatables, a petting zoo and a pie-eating contest. The band Flashback will play from 7 p.m. until a fireworks display begins at 10 p.m.

Today: First United Presbyterian Church, 401 First St., will host a concert by the Kiski Valley Community Band at 6 p.m. at the church. Hot dogs, snacks, baked goods and beverages will be sold at 5 p.m. Donations will be accepted to benefit the church general fund.

Aug. 13: Our Lady, Queen of Peace and St. James parishes are accepting reservations for a bus trip to Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh. Cost: $30, includes $20 in free play.
