‘Spirit of the Revolution’ to open Freeport Theater Festival 34th season

The Freeport Theatre Festival will present “Spirit of the Revolution” at 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays July 7 to 23 at the Steele Family Farm off Route 356 on White Cloud Road in Allegheny Township.

Tickets are $15; members of the military, $12; students, $10. Reservations are recommended. The facility is air conditioned and wheelchair accessible. Free parking is available.

Free shuttle service available for NK, Arnold residents

The New Ken Downtown Partnership and Wesley Family Services are sponsoring a free shuttle service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for residents of New Kensington and Arnold.

Residents can be picked up at their homes and be taken to Golden Dawn and Aldi, both in New Kensington, and Walmart and Aldi, both in Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer.

Riders must be at least 18 years old and shuttles are smoke-free. For details and a schedule, call Kevin Cox at 724-895-8270.


Ride to benefit Parks Township animal rescue

The Rev It For Rescues fundraiser ride will be July 29 at West Leechburg Volunteer Firemen’s Recreation Hall, 1116 Gosser St.

Check-in will be at 9 a.m. and kickstands up will be at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $15 for riders and $10 for passengers. Stops will include Heroes Bar and Grill, Whiskey Throttle, Cool Water Saloon and the Bonfire Restaurant and back to the firehall. There will be food trucks and ride T-shirts will be sold. Proceeds will benefit Champion’s Crusaiders Rescue, Parks Township.

Freeport

Wednesday: Freeport Area Library will host a summer story time from 11 a.m. to noon at the library, 428 Market St. There will be stories, songs, a craft and an opportunity to watch the library’s caterpillars grow into butterflies. Details: 724-295-3616.

Wednesday: The Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All items are free, but donations will be accepted. Items available include clothing of all sizes, bedding and window items. Donations of clothing, shoes and boots welcome; must be laundered and free from smoke and pet hair. Wheelchair accessible. Harrison

Wednesday: Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadview Blvd., will host a Becky’s Closet community clothing store from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Clothing available at very low cost. Donations welcome during this time.

Wednesday: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Food bank participants can receive food allotments twice per month. Those who are not yet registered should come from 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Details and alternate times: 724-226-0606, ext. 10.

Wednesday: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Clean spring and summer clothing in all sizes is needed. No housewares or bedding please due to lack of space. Bring donations on Wednesday or leave them on the front porch. Do not place donations in the blue bins behind the church.

Lower Burrell 

Oct. 22: New Kensington Moose is accepting table reservations for a fall craft and vendor show planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lodge, 499 Reimer St. Spaces limited to one representative from each company on a first come, first served basis. Tarentum
