Vandergrift Library to host Escape Room fundraiser
Vandergrift Public Library will have an Escape Room fundraiser at 8 p.m. Aug. 7 and 22: at the library, 128C Washington Ave. Teams of four to six adults will use observation, logic and team work to solve a series of puzzles to escape with the lost treasure. Choose either 60-minute session. Those attending must be at least 18 years old. Masks and gloves optional.
Cost is $20 per person, and paid reservations with a credit card are required. No refunds will be issued unless due to a covid-19 library closure.

Apollo Area Historical Society seeks memorabilia
The Apollo Area Historical Society is seeking items for its museum.
Items on the wish list include artifacts, yearbooks, photos and gym uniforms from Apollo-Ridge High School, artifacts and photos from the 1960s Legionettes and the 1980s Rainbow Connection marching groups, photos and artifacts from Apollo and Elders Ridge schools and photos from the 1991 Septiquin Centennial parade and Owen’s Grove and the old building there.
Items can be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays at the museum, 317 N. Second St. For alternate arrangements, call 724-478-2899.
Toy collection scheduled Saturday for Toys for Tots
Lower Valley Ambulance on behalf of USMC Toys for Tots will host a toy drive from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot between Giant Eagle Express and Target, 2611 Freeport Road, Harmar.
New, unwrapped gifts will be accepted to benefit children in need this upcoming holiday season.
Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church accepting contributions
The Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, is accepting donations of clothing for men, women and children, as well as purses, shoes and belts.
Donations will be accepted during Closet operating hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the church, 305 Allegheny St., and by appointment.
