National Night Out celebration planned in North Apollo

Kiski Township Police Department will host a National Night Out celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at North Apollo Church of God, 507 20th St.

There will be food, refreshments, emergency vehicles and fun.


56 East Band to play in Tarentum’s Riverview Memorial Park

Tarentum Summer Concert Series will feature the 56 East Band at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Carl J. Magnetta Jr. Memorial Amphitheater in Riverview Memorial Park.

The Snack Shack opens at 6 p.m. The concerts are sponsored by Tarentum Recreation Board.


Summer concert series to feature Dan Bubien and the Delta Struts

The free Pittsburgh Brewing Co. Thunder Summer Music Series will feature Dan Bubien and the Delta Struts at 7 p.m. Thursday at the pavilion at the Syria Shrine Center, 1877 Shriners Way, Harmar.

Gates open at 6 p.m., rain or shine. There is free parking, and food and beverages will be sold. No tailgating or outside food or drinks are permitted.

Today : Markle Volunteer Fire Department will have an outdoor flea market in the firehall parking lot, 470 Joyce St. Reservations: 724-236-0665.

Arnold

Tuesday: St. Vladimir Church, 1610 Kenneth Ave., will sponsor a bingo night. Doors open at 6 p.m. There is a $1,000 jackpot game with a $500 consolation prize. Pierogi, snacks, drinks, daubers and extra packages will be sold. Admission: $25.

Harrison

Tuesday: The Accordion Club is seeking new players of all ages. Meetings are from 6 to 8 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6003 Freeport Road. Details: 724-236-0665.

Lower Burrell

New Kensington

Tuesday and Saturday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes and linens. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Summer clothing donations welcome during business hours.

Oakmont

Springdale

Aug. 25: Springdale Free Public Library is accepting orders for pies, cinnamon rolls and snails from The Pie Shoppe in Laughlintown. Pie varieties: banana cream, coconut meringue, lemon meringue, apple, blackberry, blueberry, cherry, Dutch apple, peach, razzleberry, blue raspberry, bumbleberry, peach raspberry, pineapple cherry and strawberry rhubarb; all $11. Cinnamon rolls: traditional white, maple raisin, cream cheese, peanut butter crunch and strawberry; pepperoni rolls, ham and Swiss rolls and pyro rolls, $6; pumpkin rolls, $11; and snails, $9. Monday : Vandergrift Public Library is raffling a quilt made and donated by library patron Jane Strohm to benefit the library. Cost: $1 for two tickets; 5 for 12; and $10 for 30.
