Avonmore VFD accepting orders for military banners
Avonmore Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a Hometown Hero Banner program that recognizes veterans and current service men and women from the Avonmore area.
Banners are 30 x 60-inches and will be displayed in the borough from Memorial Day through Veterans Day each year and stored through the winter.
Cost for a banner and hardware is $125. For details, stop in the borough office, 619 Allegheny Ave., or the public library. Order deadline is July 31.
Free movie offered at Hartwood Acres
The free Allegheny County Movies in the Parks series will feature the movie, “Cars” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hartwood Acres Amphitheater, Indiana Township.
The movie is rated G. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair.
Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels seeking volunteers
Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers to help in the kitchen and make deliveries in Arnold, New Kensington and Lower Burrell.
