Free paper shredding event planned in Springdale

State Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso will host a free paper shredding event from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Springdale Jr.-Sr. High School, 501 Butler Road, Springdale.

Each household may bring up to five boxes of materials. Boxes will be returned. No businesses or organizations please. Rain or shine.

Help needed at Vandergrift Meals On Wheels

Vandergrift Meals On Wheels is in need of regular and substitute volunteers to help with food packing, driving and delivering.

Free concert planned at Shrine Center

The Pittsburgh Shrine Center will present a free outdoor concert featuring Curtis and the Shakerz from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday under cover at the center, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Seating and tables will be provided, and food and beverages will be sold. No outside food and beverages, please.


Salvation Army free lunch distribution offered Thursday

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Everyone is welcome.


Murphy’s Music Center Band concert in Tarentum rescheduled

Tarentum Summer Concert Series will feature the Murphy’s Music Center Band featuring Sinatra singer John Noble at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Carl J. Magnetta Jr. Memorial Amphitheater in Riverview Memorial Park. The concert was rescheduled from July 1 due to inclement weather.

The Snack Shack opens at 6 p.m. The concerts are sponsored by Tarentum Recreation Board.
