Bowling event to benefit Joey’s PAW

A bowling night to benefit animal charity Joey’s PAW will be from 7 to 9 p.m. July 28 at Deer Lakes Bowl, 284 East Union Road, West Deer.

Tickets are $25 and include two games and shoe rental. Reservations are required and there will be four bowlers per lane. This is an event for humans – no dogs please. For reservations, visit tinyurl.com/2sracrux. Proceeds will help dogs with mobility problems to receive a wheelchair or prosthetic.


Christmas in July bingo planned by North Apollo VFD

North Apollo Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a Christmas in July bingo July 22 at the firehall, 311 N. 16th St.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo starts at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $30 and include supplies, food and drinks. There will be a DJ and instant games. Reserved seating is available for groups of eight or more. No tickets will be held at the door.

Hartwood Acres to host country concert

The Allegheny County Summer Concert Series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater, Indiana Township, will feature a performance by Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives with Joe Grushecky at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Food trucks will open at 6 p.m. Rain or shine. A $20 per vehicle fee will benefit the Allegheny County Department of Human Services.

Today: Alle-Kiski Day Quilters and Sewers will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Allegheny Township municipal building, 136 Community Building Road. Bring your project. No dues or fees. Saturday: Apollo United Presbyterian Church, 401 First St., will offer a story time, craft and small snack for children at 11 a.m. on the front steps of the church, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, the event will be indoors.

Sunday: Apollo Area Historical Society will sponsor a performance of Patrick McBride as Benjamin Franklin at 6:30 p.m. at the WCTU Building, 317 N. Second St. Donations will be accepted.

Cheswick

Sunday: The Second Sunday Popup Market will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. in Cheswick Plaza parking lot. Sponsored by Cheswick Community Relations Committee. Details and vendor information: Karen, 412-266-1709.

East Franklin 

July 15: Dove Award-winning band Sidewalk Prophets will be in concert at 7 p.m. at Harvest Church, 143 Reed Road. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Cost: $18, $30 and $55. Tickets: Harvestpa.org or 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at the church office, cash or check only.

East Vandergrift

Freeport

Sunday: Freeport Event Center, 325 Fourth St., will host a Second Sunday Social from noon to 5 p.m. for all ages at the center. There will be music, activities, food and beverages. Bring your instrument and join in the music.

Harrison 

Today: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church, Harrison, will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Leechburg 

Saturday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature Marshal and the Deputies from 8 to 11 p.m. at the post. Members and three guests welcome.

Saturday: The farmers market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bon Air Elementary School, 3260 Leechburg Road.

Lower Burrell 

Oct. 22: New Kensington Moose is accepting table reservations for a fall craft and vendor show planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lodge, 499 Reimer St. Spaces limited to one representative from each company on a first come, first served basis. New Kensington

Tarentum
