Rally on the River food truck rally to benefit Leechburg firemen

Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company will sponsor a Rally on the River food truck rally and car and bike show from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at the firemen’s grounds, Canal Street.

Crafters and vendors will sell Christmas in July merchandise and music will be by D.J. Lash. Free parking and an ATM will be available. Seating will be in the firehall truck room. Twenty percent of proceeds will benefit the fire company.

Boaters bash planned Saturday in New Kensington

Lighthouse Marina, New Kensington, will host a Rockin’ For Lockin’ Boaters Bash from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the marina, 799 Industrial Blvd.

There will be performances by Curtis and the Shakers, Heidi and the Hellcats, 13 Stories and Glitz; food trucks, raffles and a corn hole tournament.

Boat docking reservations are sold out, but general admission tickets will be sold at the gate. Cost is $10.

Motorcycle run to benefit Toys for Tots

The fifth annual Toys for Tots motorcycle run will begin Saturday at Zodiac MC, 1809 Fifth Ave., New Kensington.

Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m. and kick stands up will be at 10:15 a.m. Cost is $20 per rider; passengers ride free with the donation of a new unwrapped gift.

Contestants being accepted for cutest pet contest

Apollo Memorial Library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is conducting a Cutest Ever Pet contest.

Entries will be accepted at the library for a week or until there are 10 contestants. Entry fee is $5. Library patrons will vote for the winner by donating money that will benefit the library. The pet with the most money will win and prizes awarded.

Freeport

Today: Freeport’s Food Truckin’ will be from 4 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Laube Hall. Vendor fees are $25 for the first week and $50 for each additional week and will benefit Restore Freeport Community Park. Details: Jackie, 724-234-9373

Today: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7:15 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harrison

Friday: The free summer children’s playground program sponsored by Natrona Comes Together Association will present a rocket program with the Carnegie Science Center at 12:30 p.m. at the Natrona pavilion, 10 River Ave. Funding for programs provided by PNC Charitable Trusts. Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church, Harrison, will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide present their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Saturday: Fun and Freedom will host a free Picnic in the Park from 5 to 7 p.m. in Natrona Park, River Avenue. Weather permitting. Music will be by Josh and Hannah Hill from Riverside Community Church and there will be food, games and children’s crafts. Details: 724-274-7773

Leechburg 

Today: A New Path Al-Anon Family Group, a free, confidential program for anyone whose life has been affected by someone else’s drinking, will meet at 7 p.m. in First United Methodist Church, 251 Main St. Face masks and social distancing required.

New Kensington

Through July 31: Vandergrift Public Library, 128C Washington Ave., is having a book sale during library hours. Cost: $3 per Giant Eagle-sized bag available at the library. DVDs, audio books and puzzles available separately.
