Peoples Library plans annual book sale
Peoples Library will have its annual book sale Thursday through July 16 at both the Lower Burrell and New Kensington locations.
The Lower Burrell library, 3052 Wachter Ave., will have non-fiction selections including history, war, sports, religion, cooking, gardening and biography and books for kids and teens.
The New Kensington location, 880 Barnes St., will have hardcover and trade fiction, paperbacks, puzzles, games, music, DVDs and books for kids and teens.
Hours and prices are: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, $1.50 per pound; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, $1 per pound; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, $1 per pound; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 17, $3 per bag. Tom’s Soups will be sold from 10 a.m. until sold out Thursday through Saturday.
Drive-through food distribution set Tuesday at Pittsburgh Mills
Allegheny Valley Association of Churches and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution for anyone in need from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in parking lot of the former JC Penney store at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, Frazer.
Reservations are not required. Guests should remain in their vehicles and open their door or trunk and will be served on a first come, first served basis.
Help available for dementia patient caregivers
The Allegheny Health Network Division of Geriatrics will sponsor a free half-day conference and online educational series for dementia caregivers.
The conference “Caring for the Dementia Caregiver” will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Magovern Conference Center at Allegheny General Hospital, North Side, Pittsburgh. For reservations, visit events.ahn.org/d/00qr06.
The online Dementia Caregiver Education Series will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 15. Each week will have a different theme. Reservations are required for each weekly meeting by visiting the events page at ahn.org. For more information, call 412-699-0603.
