Volunteers needed for highway litter cleanup

Volunteers are needed for a highway litter cleanup set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday beginning at 2687 River Road, Parks Township.

The event is sponsored by the Kiski Watershed Association. Family and friends are welcome to participate. Wear sturdy boots and clothes that can get dirty. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.

Donations welcome for the Friendship Garden Food Pantry

Donations for the food pantry in the Tarentum Friendship Garden can be dropped off at the pantry on First Avenue or at the side doors to First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock St., Tarentum.

Items needed include cereal, bread, canned vegetables, soup, macaroni and cheese, rice, spaghetti and pasta sauce.


Trylife Center offers free diapers

The Trylife Center, 1155 Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell, has diapers for parents in need.

Pot Love Dinner planned Saturday in Leechburg

Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, Leechburg, will host its monthly free Pot Love Dinner at noon Saturday at the church, 271 Main St.

The event will be takeout only and reservations are required by Friday. There is a limit of one dinner per family member. Those with reservations will be served first. For reservations, call 724-845-1901 or email church@crcpc.org.

Line-up will be outside and everyone must observe social distancing. This month’s meals was donated by a local caterer.

Fawn 

June 24: Fawn Supervisors will conduct a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. and the regular meeting afterward at the municipal building, 3054 Howes Run Road. Face masks are required, and social distancing will be observed. Comments should be sent to the municipal building or emailed to fawntwp@comcast.net by Friday.

Harrison

The book drop at Community Library of Allegheny Valley is now open. Curbside service will begin Monday.

Springdale High School Alumni Association meetings are suspended until further notice. The Monte Carlo night planned for April 25 has been rescheduled to Oct. 3.

Sept. 12: Springdale Volunteer Fire Department has rescheduled the May Cash Bash to be Sept. 12. Current tickets will be honored in September and the Progressive 50/50 will be drawn. Please hold on to your tickets. The fire department thanks you for your understanding and support and urges everyone to stay safe.

Tarentum

July 3: The Summit Hose Independence Day fireworks are canceled.

West Deer

West Deer Farmers Market is canceled this year.
