Annual Strawberry Festival on tap at Burtner House

The 49th annual Burtner House Strawberry Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Burtner House homestead, 1650 Burtner Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

There will be Civil War reenactors, crafters, demonstrations, food, a bake sale and basket raffle. Free parking and shuttle service will be available from the area in front of Big Lots in Heights Plaza, 1726 Pacific Ave, Harrison. No parking is available at the festival. Admission is $5; children younger than 5, free. Advance tickets are available at https://tinyurl.com/mxtpxu86 or at the gate.

Free picnic planned Saturday in Natrona

Fun and Freedom will host a free community picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Natrona Park and playground on River Avenue in Harrison.

There will be food, bubble fun, a DJ, sports, games and more – all free. For details, call 724-274-7773.


Concert to raise funds for Chief Justin McIntire Memorial Foundation

A concert to benefit the Chief Justin McIntire Memorial Foundation will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Citizens Hose Fire Rescue, 965 Burtner Road, Harrison.

Country band Saddle Up will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be food trucks, children’s activities including a duck pond, a cash bar and chuck-a-luck.

Tarentum concert rescheduled

Tonight’s concert in Tarentum’s Riverview Memorial Park featuring Byrl Johnson is rescheduled to be at 7 p.m. June 26.

July 4: St. James Parish is selling tickets for a Fire Quacker July 4 lottery ticket raffle. The winner will receive a complete roll of $5, $10 and $20 Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off tickets. Bethel Township

Friday: The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek will sponsor a free celebration of National Pollinator Week from 9 a.m. to noon at the center, 142 Kerr Road. There will be tours of the Master Gardener pollinator garden, activities for children, and opportunities to meet beekeepers and learn about native plants, bees, moths, bees, hummingbirds and bats. Brackenridge

East Deer

Friday: The township recreation board will host a free movie night in Memorial Park, 700 Front St. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie will begin at 8 p.m. Snacks, hot dogs, pop and water will be sold to benefit future events.

Gilpin

Today: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harrison   

Today: The free summer children’s playground program sponsored by Natrona Comes Together Association will offer an art workshop at noon at the Natrona pavilion, 10 River Ave. Funding provided by the Grable Foundation. A free lunch is served by Faith Community Partners from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays for children 18 and younger. Details: natronacomestogether.org.

Today: Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary will sell White Green Cloths from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the cafeteria exit of the hospital, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights. The cloths are streak-free and spot-free. Cost: $6, cash only. Proceeds benefit AVH auxiliary projects.

Friday: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will host Toddle Time, a story time for children 1 to 3 years old and their caregiver at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. No reservations required.

West Deer 

Friday: Highpointe at Rebecca will present The Ukulele Lady Tracy Lee Simmen in concert at 3:30 p.m. in the facility’s outdoor courtyard, 1871 Highpointe Lane, West Deer. In case of inclement weather, the free concert will be inside. Tours of the facility will be available and refreshments will be served. Reservations are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Sunday: Guardian Angels Parish will host its annual Corpus Christi Sawdust Carpet celebration from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church. June 26: Join Allegheny County Park Rangers for a day of habitat restoration at Deer Lakes Park. Meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Veterans I shelter. Volunteers will use hand tools to remove invasive species and may plant native species. Expect to participate in physical activity. No experience is necessary.
