Allegheny Township to celebrate Community Day

Allegheny Township Community Day will be from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at Kiski Area High School, 240 Hyde Park Road.

The Kiski Valley Community Band will perform at noon and the 56 East Band will play afterward. There will be local food trucks, a touch-a-truck, a car and bike cruise, craft vendors and children’s activities. LifeFlight helicopter will arrive and be on display from 3 to 5 p.m. and Kiski Area Band Boosters will have a rummage sale.


Highlands School District announces summer food program

Highlands School District in Harrison will distribute free lunches to children 18 and younger from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays June 19 to 29 and July 17 to 27 in the middle school cafeteria.

Back the Blue concert fundraiser adds parade, fireworks

The annual Back the Blue concert will be Saturday at Mogie’s Irish Pub, 3210 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

A police parade will begin at noon on Craigdell Road in New Kensington and proceed down Leechburg Road to Mogie’s at the corner of Wildlife Lodge Road and Leechburg Road. Doors open at 1 p.m. Admission is $10.

There will be bagpipe music from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Musicians scheduled to perform include Curtis and Black N Blue, John Melnick, Miss Freddye’s Blues Band, Lenny Collini Family Pak, Doug Carnahan, TKO The Knock Offs, Big House Pete and Chip & the Charge Ups.

There will be raffles and two silent auctions. A fireworks display will cap off the night at 9:45 p.m. Proceeds will be donated to local police departments and first responders.


Lemonade stand to raise money for Alzheimer’s disease

Brody’s Lemonade Stand fundraiser will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Colwell’s Xpress Lube, 660 S. Leechburg Hill Road, Allegheny Township.

There will be food trucks and a summer fun raffle. Sponsored by Brody Toy, money raised will go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in memory of his great-grandfather Joseph Kish.

Tour the Master Gardener pollinator garden, meet beekeepers and view the milkweed and winter sowing display. There will be children’s activities. Reservations required. Brackenridge 

Today: The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center offers free grab-and-go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave. Free grocery items from Walmart and Aldi will be available. Everyone is welcome.

Today: Bingo will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the American Legion, 845 First Ave.

Buffalo Township

Cheswick

Saturday: Springdale High School Marching Band will have a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at All Time Auto Service, 1800 Pittsburgh St. Proceeds will be used to purchase supplies for the color guard. Donations will be accepted. Rain date: Sunday.

East Vandergrift

July 3 and 4: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling tickets for a Firecracker Cash lottery raffle. Cost: $10, includes two three-digit numbers. The winning number will be the 7 p.m. Daily Pick-3 number on July 3 and 4. Winners receive $1,000, a $100 gift card to Lackey’s Dairy Queen, North Apollo, and a $100 gift card to Allusion Brewery, Vandergrift. Harrison

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Jefferson
