Murphy’s Music Center Band to play in Tarentum Park

Murphy’s Music Center Band featuring Sinatra singer John Noble will play a free concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carl J. Magnetta Memorial Amphitheater in Riverview Memorial Park, Tarentum.

All CDC guidelines will be observed. Bring a lawn chair and please wear a face mask. The Snack Shack will open at 6 p.m. with a limited menu.


Free milk product distributions scheduled

Free dairy products will be distributed at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lenape Elementary School, 2300 Center Ave., Manor Township, and 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Heights Plaza, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Recipients should drive up, remain in your vehicle and boxes will be loaded into your trunk.

No registration is required for the Heights Plaza distribution. Service will be first come, first served, one box per family.

Registration for the Manor Township event is required by visiting harvestpa.org.

The events are sponsored by Harvest Community Church, Harrison, in conjunction with Marburger Dairy, the USDA Food and Drug Administration, local dairy producers and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. For details, visit harvestpa.org or call the church at 724-548-5643.


Salvation Army offers free lunches

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center will offer free grab and go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Apollo

Apollo Area Historical Society Museum has reopened. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The current display features vintage toys.

Buffalo Township

June 30: Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, will host a Vitalant community blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. at the church family life center. Appointments are recommended. Burrell School District

Today: Burrell School Board will conduct the regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the high school board room, 1021 Puckety Church Road.

Cheswick

Thursday: The Agan Park Joint Committee will meet at 7 p.m. at the Cheswick Volunteer Fire Hall, 1411 Spruce St. Social distancing will be observed and those attending are encouraged to wear a face mask.

Fawn 

Wednesday: Fawn Supervisors will conduct a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. and the regular meeting afterward at the municipal building, 3054 Howes Run Road. Face masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.

Harrison

The book drop at Community Library of Allegheny Valley is now open. Curbside service is available.

Lower Burrell

Tuesdays through Fridays: The American Legion kitchen will be open for takeout orders from members and guests from 2 to 7 p.m. at the post, 1100 Wildlife Lodge Road. For a menu, visit facebook.com/post868/. Orders: 724-339-9417

Springdale 

Wednesday: Springdale Volunteer Fire Department is accepting orders for a take-and-bake carnival pizza sale. Pick-up: 3 to 6 p.m. in front of the fire hall, 845 Lincoln St. Cost: pepperoni, $10; plain, $9, cash only. Order deadline: 3 p.m. Tuesday. Orders: 724-274-5090

Tarentum

The Tarentum municipal building is reopened to the public. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.

Freeport

July 1: The reopening of the Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., is postponed until July 1. Details: 724-295-2476

September: The annual September By the River festival is canceled.  

Harrison

Aug. 22: The Wine and Food Festival planned at Burtner House is canceled. No decision on the Harvest Festival has been made yet.

Kittanning

July 30 to Aug. 2: The Fort Armstrong Folk Festival is canceled.

Leechburg

Sept. 19: The annual Pink Day festival is canceled.

Leechburg High School Class of 1953 Reunion planned in June is canceled.

Leechburg High School Class of 1960 Reunion planned for August is postponed until Aug. 7, 2021.

Oakmont

Riverview Community Action Corp. is closed for all activities except home delivered meals. Questions: 412-828-1062

Saxonburg

Sept. 12 and 13: The Saxonburg Festival of the Arts is canceled.

The weekly Mingle on Main events are canceled. Refunds will be sent to vendors who signed up.

Springdale

The annual Springdale Jubilee, parade and fireworks are canceled.

Springdale High School Alumni Association meetings are suspended until further notice. The Monte Carlo night planned for April 25 has been rescheduled to Oct. 3.

Sept. 12: Springdale Volunteer Fire Department has rescheduled the May Cash Bash to be Sept. 12. Current tickets will be honored in September and the Progressive 50/50 will be drawn. Please hold on to your tickets. The fire department thanks you for your understanding and support and urges everyone to stay safe.

Sept. 13: The craft and vendor fair is canceled.

Tarentum

July 3: The Summit Hose Independence Day fireworks are canceled.

West Deer

West Deer Farmers Market is canceled this year.

July 31 and Aug. 1: West Deer Community Days are canceled.

Aug. 28: The West Deer Police Benefit Golf Scramble that was to be May 1 is rescheduled to be Aug. 28 at Pittsburgh North Golf Course, Richland Township. Cost: $85 per golfer. Registration form: click here.

Vandergrift

Aug. 9: The Festa Italiana is canceled.
