West Deer American Legion to honor original members

The West Deer American Legion plans to honor the original members of the post Sept. 12 in observation of the post’s 90th anniversary.

Participants sought for Westmoreland County Firemen’s parade

The New Kensington Bureau of Fire will host the 128th annual Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association convention Aug. 7 to 11.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 with prejudging at 10 a.m. at Valley High School. Church groups, baton and drum units, non-profit organizations, businesses and Boy and Girl Scouts are being sought to march in the parade.

Indigo Girls to play free concert at Hartwood Acres

The Allegheny County Summer Concert Series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater, Indiana Township, will feature a free performance by the Indigo Girls at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Food trucks will open at 6 p.m. Rain or shine.


Reunion

Highlands High School Class of 1970 will host a “50th plus 1” mixer and reunion in August. All Highlands High School graduates are welcome to attend a mixer at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at Bird Dogs Sports Bar and Grill, 2615 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison. There will be a cash bar and finger foods. A reunion with a cash bar, dinner and dancing will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Hill Crest Country Club, Lower Burrell. Cost: $50 per person.
