Summit Hose accepting donations for fireworks display

Summit Hose Volunteer Fire Company in Tarentum is accepting donations to offset the cost of the annual community Independence Day fireworks display set for July 3.

To contribute, use Venmo code @summithosevfc or mail a check payable to Summit Hose VFC to 321 W. Seventh Ave., Tarentum PA 15084.


Donations welcome for the Friendship Garden Food Pantry

Donations for the food pantry in the Tarentum Friendship Garden can be dropped off at the pantry on First Avenue.

Items needed include cereal, bread, canned vegetables, soup, macaroni and cheese, rice, spaghetti and pasta sauce. Give what you can, take what you need.

Harrison 

Today: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will have a Summer Fling event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. There will be a used book sale, children’s crafts, lottery tickets and food trucks. Today: A free picnic in the park will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in Natrona Park, 10 River Ave. There will be free music, food and games. Sponsored by Fun and Freedom.

Monday: The Yarn Friends group at Community Library of Allegheny Valley will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. The group is working on blankets for Project Linus. Sunday: A Kona Ice truck fundraiser will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of First United Methodist Church, Main Street. Proceeds will benefit the church Nurture Committee programming.

Monday: Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company will host bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 268 Canal St. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open.

Mondays: First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Leechburg, will host a 13-week GriefShare support group from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Sept. 6 in the church sanctuary, 358 Main St. The group is for anyone who has lost an important person in their life and needs help dealing with the grief. Masks required to enter the building and social distancing will be observed. Participants can join the group at any session of the class. New Kensington

Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and Mondays and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The closet offers clothing for all members of the family, uniforms for students at Mary Queen of Apostles School, shoes, purses, household items, linens and blankets. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Donations accepted during open hours only. Take a free chance on a monthly basket raffle.

July 1: Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is selling tickets for 4th of July raffle. Prizes: gift cards to Olive Garden or Longhorn Steak House, Sheetz and the Wine and Spirits store, beer, wine, snacks, grilling utensils, an Igloo cooler, American flags and more. Cost: $5.
