Golf scramble planned by Freeport College Club

The Freeport College Club will host a golf scramble July 12 at Birdsfoot Golf Club, 225 Furnace Run Road, South Buffalo.

There will be a 2 p.m. shotgun start. Cost is $95 per golfer and includes a cart, hot dog at the turn, soft drinks, beer and a catered dinner. There will be mulligans, skill contests, a basket raffle and 50-50. Tickets for dinner only are $25 or $10 for children younger than 12.

Today: A free dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Tomb, 1821 Fifth Ave. Gospel group Chalice will perform from 6 to 7 p.m.

Brackenridge

Monday: Brackenridge Improvement Program will sponsor a free story time and craft at noon in the borough park pavilion, First Avenue. Snacks and beverages will be served. No reservations required.

Monday: Brackenridge Improvement Program will meet at 7 p.m. at the municipal building, 1000 Brackenridge Ave. New members welcome.

Buffalo Township 

July 5: The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania will offer a free program, “Summer Nights and Fireflies,” at 8 p.m. at Buffalo Creek Nature Park, 154 Monroe Road. Learn about our state insect and how to count fireflies in your own backyard. Reservations required. Reservations: aswp.org.

Fox Chapel

Hampton

Monday: The Greater Pittsburgh Civil War Roundtable will host a free program, “Their Own Cause: The 27th U.S. Colored Troops,” by Kelly Mezurek at 6 p.m. at the Hampton Community Center, 3101 McCully Road. Public welcome.

Harrison   

Sunday: The garden strolls that were to be held on June 8 in the township will be from noon to 3 p.m. in the gardens of seven township residents. The event was postponed due to inclement weather. Maps of the participating gardens are available at Community Library of Allegheny Valley, at the township municipal building and online the Facebook page of the recreation board.

Jefferson Township

Sunday: Concordia Haven Retirement Apartments will host a free patriotic concert at 3 p.m. with Maryann Mangini behind Haven II, 148 Marwood Road. Use Entrance 5. Bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be indoors. Reservations strongly encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Saxonburg

Today: A yard sale to support the church sewing ministry will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Centennial Hall at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 110 State St. Rain or shine. The ministry creates handmade items such as prayer shawls and blankets for nursing homes, hospitals and individuals.

Springdale
