Free tuition reimbursement offered for nurses

Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host an information session about its tuition assistance program with Butler County Community College’s practical nursing program at 3 p.m. July 11 in the Haven I dining room, 112 Marwood Road, entrance 2, Jefferson Township.

Representatives from Butler County Community College will discuss the set of courses for the LPN and RN programs. The Concordia tuition assistance program offers students the opportunity to earn a free LPN degree in 12 months and start a career at one of Concordia’s inpatient facilities or in-home care companies after graduation. Financial need is not a determining factor. Application deadline is Aug. 31.

Information needed about local Korean War veterans

Prospect Cemetery is seeking information for a history program about the following Korean War veterans who are buried at the cemetery:

Bike ride and music fest to aid Ryan’s Wings charity

The Rockin’ With Ryan’s Wings Bike Run and Music Fest will be July 15 at the Pittsburgh Shrine Center pavilion, 1877 Shriners Way, Harmar.

Check-in will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at 3 Rivers Harley Davidson, 1463 Glenn Ave., Shaler Township, and kickstands up will be at 11 a.m. Cost for the ride and music fest is $25 for riders and non-riders.

The music fest featuring B.B. Steal, Ledfoot Lover, the Shiners and the Tina Daniels Band will be from 3 to 11 p.m. at the Shrine Center. There will be a basket raffle, food, a cash bar and 50/50. Admission to music fest is $25. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For sponsorship information, call 724-321-3247.

Proceeds will benefit Ryan’s Wings charity that helps individuals who are struggling with addiction and their families.


Glass collection scheduled at Hartwood Acres

Allegheny County along with the Pennsylvania Resources Council will sponsor a glass recycling bin that will be available from 7 a.m. to sundown July 8 to 13 in the amphitheater overflow lot on Middle Road, Indiana Township.

Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors. No color sorting is required. Containers should be empty and rinsed with labels and lids still on. Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site.
