Drive-through food distribution set Tuesday at Pittsburgh Mills

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution for anyone in need from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the rear parking lot near Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, Frazer. No cars are permitted to arrive before 5 p.m.

Reservations are required by 5 p.m. Monday to ensure enough food is available. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/drive-up or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655.

Openings available for Camp Allegheny

The New Kensington Salvation Army will sponsor a residential camp for children age 6 to 12 July 5 to 9 at Camp Allegheny, Ellwood City.

HOPE Center offers shelter for families and pets

The Alle-Kiski HOPE Center offers a Sheltering Animals and Families Together (SAF-T) Kennel to victims of domestic violence who are fleeing abuse with their pets.

The kennel allows families to bring their pets with them safely to an on-site kennel during their shelter stay.

All services are free and confidential. For information, call the center’s 24-hour hotline at 724-224-1266.


Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels seeking volunteers

Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers to help in the kitchen and make deliveries in Arnold, New Kensington and Lower Burrell.

Today: Knead Community Café will host an Herbal Affair Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the café, 1011 Barnes St. Vendors will sell handcrafted and natural-based herbal soaps, lotions, balms, teas and condiments, and flowers and plants. The café will be open for breakfast from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Proceeds will support the café’s mission to feed all regardless of means.

Today: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and Mondays and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The closet offers clothing for all members of the family, uniforms for students at Mary Queen of Apostles School, shoes, purses, household items, linens and blankets.
