Butch and the Road Runners to play Tarentum Park

Butch and the Road Runners will play a free concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carl J. Magnetta Memorial Amphitheater in Riverview Memorial Park, Tarentum.

All CDC guidelines will be observed. Bring a lawn chair and please wear a face mask. The Snack Shack will open at 6 p.m. with a limited menu.


New date set for 108th Oakmont/Verona Kennywood picnic

The annual Oakmont/Verona Kennywood picnic, usually held the second Wednesday in July, is rescheduled to be Aug. 19 at the park in West Mifflin.

Discount tickets will be sold July 9, 10 and 11 in the front parking lot of Oakmont Bakery.

No bus transportation will be available this year.


Walking for Babies fundraiser will be virtual event

The annual Walking for Babies event that benefits the TryLife Center in Lower Burrell will be held virtually from June 20 to June 27.

To participate, register at trylife.center/walking-for-babies. The registration fee is $25 per walker. Those who register by Friday will receive a free t-shirt. Shirts will be mailed or can be picked up at the center.

Tarentum Farmers Market to open Wednesday

The Tarentum Farmers Market will open for the season Wednesday.

The market is located at the corner of Lock Street and 10th Avenue and the hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Wednesday.

Friday: Apollo Hose Company No. 3 will sell chicken wings to go from 5 to 9 p.m. or until sold out at the firehall, 707 N. Fifth St. Cost: $16 per dozen or $8 for a half dozen. Pickup will be at the front entrance of the building. Wings and change will be brought to vehicles by members. Preorders required. Cheswick

Wednesday: Cheswick Council will conduct the caucus meeting at 7 p.m. at Cheswick Volunteer Fire Hall, 1411 Spruce St. Those attending are asked to comply with appropriate social distancing guidelines.

Deer Lakes School District

Wednesday: Harrison Zoning Hearing Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. at the municipal building, 1 Municipal Drive, Natrona Heights, to consider a variance request.

The book drop at Community Library of Allegheny Valley is now open. Curbside service will begin Monday.

Kiski Area School District

Wednesday: Kiski Area School Board will conduct the information meeting at 7 p.m. via teleconference. The agenda will be posted at the district website. Leechburg High School Class of 1953 Reunion planned in June is canceled.

Leechburg High School Class of 1960 Reunion planned for August is postponed until Aug. 7, 2021.

Oakmont

Springdale High School Alumni Association meetings are suspended until further notice. The Monte Carlo night planned for April 25 has been rescheduled to Oct. 3.

Sept. 12: Springdale Volunteer Fire Department has rescheduled the May Cash Bash to be Sept. 12. Current tickets will be honored in September and the Progressive 50/50 will be drawn.
